Horribly true.

I hope your clan doesn't have to face anything remotely like this entirely ugly story.

Multiple friends have already died from overdoses. They mourn the deceased and continue on their way -- no lesson learned. She is still a teenager and nothing she has done thus far will prevent her from a successful life, but does she want success? That is the question. Not all indications point that way at this time. Addiction is a helluva thing. I remain cautiously hopeful.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

My read was and is that, best case, these two were a couple of little self-indulgent smartasses who got in over their heads because they went into the mouth of a lawless dragon, i.e. The 'hoods of Detroit. My sympathy is borne of the fact that I too was once a clueless youth, and in spite of everything dumb done I and friends lived to tell the stories.

I now have a kid around the age of these two, and my own guy is good-hearted but no less of an idiot than was his dad at 18. Stupidity and fate can be awful cocktail, and it's my fervent hope that I did enough to bring my child up to be wise enough to not chase every fancy and ignore every warning.

Well said, Frank. Well said.

Ken Rieberger has lived on Detroit’s west side for more than a year. But after returning from a business trip early Monday morning, Ken came home to shock of his life.

“Everything is gone,” said Rieberger.

His home on Braille Street was broken into, but not only was everything stolen, his two most prized possessions were in the way of the bad guys.

“I came home around 1:40 a.m. to my babies, my two pit bulls, bleeding in my home,” said Rieberger.

Ken’s two pit bulls, Tank and Zena, were both shot when the home was broken into.

Tank was killed but Zena was still breathing.

Ken rushed Zena to Animal Emergency Care in Novi, where she was treated for a gun shot wound.

“They stole my guns and killed my dog, I don’t feel safe anymore,” Ken said.

Ken tells Local 4 it took more than an hour for Detroit police to respond to his 911 call.

The dog has been released from hospital and was given antibiotics for pain, but may require more surgery.

An old acquaitance who lived on the west side was broken into numerous times. The last time they shot his dog. He moved the following week. He was a candidate for state rep and a reserve cop who wanted nothing more than to help change the city. He used to hang at H?J's, but I've seen him once in 5 years since he's knocked the dust off his sandals.

Whatever he's doing, I hope he's well. He always was a pleasure to talk to.

I was downtown last week for a Lafeyete coney and on the sidwalk by the Lafeyete garden was a long blood trail. Every few feet there was a pool then trail then pool again. Now when you see this during deer season it aint a good thing because that means the deer was gutshot and the little pools are from where they stopped for a moment from the pane. We all know there aint no deer in downtown Detroit so it must have been someting else that got gutshot. When animals are gutshot you can tell they aint doing good so I cant think of a worse pang than being gutshot.

Detroit Police are investigating the murder of the Grand Master of the Mt. Olive Masonic Temple on Fenkell Saturday night.

Jerry Sears, 56, was sprucing up the Temple when somebody shot him.

“I understand whoever did this, was waiting around the corner. He was out here talking on his phone,” said The Grand Chaplin, Richard O’Banion.

Local 4’s Jim Kiertzner asked, “They walked up on him, shot him?” O’Banion answered, “And ran.”

200 people from seven states are coming to Detroit and Dearborn for a Masonic convention. The group will be going to the Temple for an open house.

The man’s mother, other family and members of the Temple all gathered Saturday night to console each other, to pray for Sears, to find his killer and the reason why.

O’Banion says, “Why? We’re all dumbfounded by this because he was a hell of a nice guy. Excuse the expression on television.”

Shots were confirmed to have been fired near 201 Civic Center Drive, where a party was apparently taking place on a Princess Cruise.

Detroit police said shots were fired, but they were not called to the scene.

According to the Detroit Princess website, a party hosted by HOT 107.5 was planned to cruise at 10:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m.

It is unknown whether anyone was hurt in the shooting.

The shooter was a woman

One man shot in the back is in critical condition after a woman opened fire on a crowd leaving a midnight cruise on the Detroit Princess riverboat early today, according to police.

Police are still searching for the suspect in the 1 a.m. shooting, which left a total of seven people wounded, Detroit Police Sgt. Alan Quinn said.

"Terrible," he said. "Obviously, anybody with any information, please contact Criminal Investigations."

Most of the victims suffered minor injuries, with wounds to the arm, leg, foot and other areas, Quinn said.

All were attending the Hot 107.5 "On Deck Sunday" Moonlight Cruise, touted on the boat's Facebook page as a nightclub atmosphere on a cruise from 10:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

"It appears there was an altercation on the boat," he said. "It looks like a group of people were getting in some kind of fight. When they got back to shore, a black female who was involved in the fight got into her car, drove back...and then she shot into the crowd of people who were getting off the boat."

The woman then drove off and is still being sought. A description of her or her car was not immediately available, Quinn said.

I knew I'd seen this assholemobile driving on Jefferson.
