Spiteful letter attacks champion Detroit Cass Tech football players
The Detroit News

A letter with racist overtones was sent to Detroit Cass Tech head football coach Thomas Wilcher following his team's victory over Detroit Catholic Central in the Division I state championship game Saturday at Ford Field.

The letter attacks the academic performance of Cass Tech students, and all Detroit Public School students.

The letter read, in part:

"I had the misfortune of attending Saturday's game. As I watched, I wondered how many of your players would be academically eligible if they attended a real school rather than a DPS holding tank.

"Do your players regularly attend class? Are they, even by DPS standards, eligible? ... DPS is a failure and in five years your players will be unemployed, in jail, addicted to drugs or worse. In a word — failures.

"The ghetto warriors had their Saturday but, in life, they are losers."

The letter was signed, and Detroit Catholic Central athletic director Aaron Babicz told The Detroit News that the name has no affiliation with the school.

"We don't know who this guy is," Babicz said. "This is devastating to our kids. The kids in school are crushed. People know it didn't come from our community."

In the most recent statistics available (2010) from the Michigan Department of Education, the overall DPS graduation rate is 62.27 percent. The graduation rate for Cass Tech students, however, was 93.70 percent, and passing an entrance exam is required to attend the school.

Renaissance had the highest graduation rate at 96.69 percent. Crockett's was 93.67 and Detroit CMA's was 93.13.

Cass Tech students also are required to maintain a minimum 2.5 grade-point average to participate in athletics. At some DPS schools the minimum requirement is a 2.0 GPA.

I wonder what sort of behavior this unnamed guy saw that would prompt him to write a letter to the coach? Hmmm...I wonder?

Nothing that would make you or I act like that much of a fucking cocksucker, I'm betting.

Detroit Police question carjacking story of father of missing 2-year-old
Alleged carjacking 'under intense scrutiny'; girl missing
George Hunter/ The Detroit News
Detroit— Police are questioning whether the father of missing 2-year-old Bianca Jones told investigators the truth about being carjacked Friday with the toddler still inside the vehicle.

Bianca was reported missing around 10 a.m. Deandre Lane told police carjackers forced him out of his 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis at gunpoint at Brush and Carter streets, just north of East Grand Boulevard, before driving off with his daughter in the back seat.

The car was recovered a few minutes after police responded to the call, but Bianca was gone.

Police Chief Ralph Godbee said Sunday investigators are checking Lane's story. "In the interest of allaying some of the fears of the public regarding the apparent randomness of Bianca's disappearance, the authenticity and credibility of the original version of events is under intense scrutiny by our investigative team," he said in a statement.

Lane, freed from prison in 2009 after serving two years on firearm and drug charges, is being held on an unrelated warrant.

He took a lie detector test Friday. A police source said he failed.

Police released an artist's sketch based on Lane's description of one of the two men he said carjacked him: A 6-foot-tall, 190-pound black man, 25-30 years old with a medium complexion, wearing a black shirt and black pants. Lane said the man had 5 o'clock shadow and wore a brown and black ball cap.

Bianca, 2 feet, 5 inches tall and 25 pounds with a light complexion, had a purple jacket with gold trim, pink tights and pink shoes.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Michigan at (800) SPEAK-UP or the Detroit Police Homicide Section at (313) 596-2260. "The search for Bianca Jones is ongoing and continues to be the highest priority," Godbee said.

Authorities ask volunteer searchers to gather starting at 10 a.m. today at Metropolitan United Methodist Church. Citizens will be required to sign up before joining patrols looking for Bianca, police Sgt. Eren Stephens said.

No surprise here. Sorry, but the odds are against this tot: 99.9% that the father and some sad combination of criminality, abuse, and neglect are at the heart of this. Is there even one example from the past 20 years where a missing person featured in a public appeal didn't turn up to be dead at the hands of a family member or a significant other? Only two local examples work against this cynical viewpoint: Deanna Sieffert (sp?) and Dawane (sp?) Simms, and at that I'm pretty sure that the Simms boy's body was hidden by the family.

There was an instance on Fenkell maybe 25 years ago where a mother and grandmother parked at the curb in front of a party store, so that the mother could run in for smokes or something. Some hoods walked up on the grandmother and ordered her out of the car, she complied and then bravely ran like hell without a word about the two-year old grandson sitting in the back seat. As I recall them, the news reports had the carjackers drive a couple of blocks down the street before they realized that the hooptie came with a consolation prize. They then pulled over, booted the little kid out onto the sidewalk, and then drove off. Not 100% about this, but they may have left the kid buckled into his child.

Little Binaca Blast is gone forever, I'm afraid. Hope that I'm wrong, but the odds are against her.

I agree with you Frank; the detailed description of the clothes she was wearing is so that when the cops find her little body is a cover that he can use to say he told the truth. I've no doubt this is either an "I shook her too hard" moment or he was getting high and she wandered into some sort of danger that was her last activity. Hiding her body and giving a description is a way to make sure she's found somewhere and identified.

Simms' grandmother retired a few years ago as a captain in our Training division. There were only three things holding her back from being an effective teacher: 1) She had no grasp of the material, 2) She lacked even basic communication skills, and 3) She had an unstable personality. Lord, what a sunt.
Overall, the contract seems to have been written by amateurs.

Wow, is that a "Ford is clumsy" joke? I say, that Taft is a polite man, indeed, the other day he gave up his trolley seat to three ladies.

Can't mention Gerald Ford and Taft in the same post, and not bring this one up...again:

Voice of Producer: No. We've got "eaten by wolves".

Tom Brokaw: What? Now, come on!

Voice of Producer: Just read it!

Tom Brokaw: Gerald Ford isn't gonna be eaten by wolves!

Voice of Producer: Taft was.

Tom Brokaw: Really? Taft?

Voice of Producer: Uh.. yeah.

Tom Brokaw: Alright, alright.. [ graphic of Ford surrounded by a pair of wolves ] "Tragedy today, as former President Gerald Ford was eaten by wolves. He was delicious." Now.. now, that's just superfluous, you know?

Voice of Producer: It's a former President, Tom. What do you say - he's not delicious?

I don't know if Beav is doing his barkeep gig tonight but I was thinking of challenging him to a who's-encountered-the-most-too-fucking-drunks until I realized that it wouldn't be fair. Seriously. He's in a bar and I'm here doing what I do. No contest. I lost count of the too-fucking-drunks hours ago. About 4PM we received a bunch of car crash victims. One woman went to resuscitation and she wouldn't get off her cell the whole time. Her alcohol level was said to be 0.47%. Detroit rises.

A few hours ago MSP brought this guy in for a blood warrant. He was obviously toasted but I don't know what the problem was. He knew he shouldn't have been driving and he parked the car...in a traffic lane on the expressway. They usually don't arrest people, it's just a blood draw and a car impound with a bench warrant issued later, but this one was too lit to just get a see ya later so we kept him. (The overheard part is coming up.) So the redhead was working him up in triage and some old ladies were standing around seeing all this, he called them rats because they alerted staff when he yanked his IV out, but he told the redhead "I will soooo suck your pussy" right in front of the old ladies. I don't know if they saw him flash his balls to the world when he tried to show where he burned his leg on a radiator. He seemed nice enough but eventually earned himself restraints: both leather and chemical. Sweet dreams to him.

No lie, there's too many drunks to count and it's still way early. Plans include drinking faux champagne while we listen to gunfire under the port-a-chere (sp?) and then we'll wait to see who wins the pool. It's $2 a play tonight so it'll be some good money.
