HFD: The Michael Bay Fetish

It should be no surprise that the desperate crew of mouth-breathers on DY would be all about Michael Bay. They would like his movies even without the filmed-in-Detroit bonus points. As Matt Stone and Trey Parker might say, they miss the point like Michael Bay missed the mark when he made Pearl Harbor. I fucking hate Michael Bay. The Jeff Colby memories are kind of sweet but fawning over a Michael Bay movie? Gross.

This isn't the first time DetroitYES went slappy over Michael Bay. Remember Transformers?

DY is like a first year film student who talks about Ed Wood films without a sense of irony. What would happen if a good director actually made a good film in Detroit? Maybe something from Richard Linklater, Spike Lee, or a gritty David Mamet character study. A Sidney Lumet urban slice-of-life film filmed in Detroit would be pretty good as well. How about a fictional remake of Dog Day Afternoon with a Kwame Kilpatrick-like character holding hostages in the Mayoral mansion. Chris Sarandon can reprise his role as Leon from the original.
