Number 40 today at Central Methodist.

Finally, maybe Rashida Tlaib will call her minions off and the phone calls will cease.

Sheesh.

#20 at Mt. Zion Jesus Something or Other. If I remember correctly, this is a pretty highturn-out there. The poll workers were actually competent and pleasant. Tlaib had four people there, but I like her, so I didn't mind. I saw, too, that one of my kookier neighbors threw her hat in the ring for Treasurer.

I like her too. She even came knocking at my door. It was a little much but whatever.

I was actually disgusted the most by the amount of literature Maureen Stapleton stuffed in my mailbox. I almost took a pic and posted a few days ago. I guess you have to do what you have to do but let's draw the line at like 10 fliers, huh?

Also voted for Glenn Anderson, which doesn't mean diddly I'm assuming.

Headed over to the polling place as soon as the SO gets home from work.

Right there with you on the Tlaib/Stapleton race. They both came to our door to say hi as well, and I was torn for a little while as to which to vote for, as I appreciate both of their service and accomplishments while serving their terms. However, Maureen clogged our mailbox with an 8.5 x 11" flier every day for the last 2 weeks it seems, not to mention the refrigerator magnets and door hangers, so that tipped the scales. I was also tempted to photograph them all as well, still might, who knows, they're currently in the recycling box...

Peters didn't do much better, and his big glossies were bi-fold and die-cut. sorry dude.

I thought it was going to be a quick in and out. Instead there a was big hold up because of a senile old man. He checked "no" under the citizen question, and didn't understand that he had to change it in order to be given a ballot. He kept saying "Of course I'm a citizen, I'm white".

This pissant town is a lot like Detroit: GOP usually attracts only mental patients for office outside of county ward or the statehouse. Really. GOP outside of very local office is another name for sacrificial lamb.

#4 at 7:30 this morning. Dems must be sleeping in because Dale Kildee IV is a shoe-in for congress.

United Auto Workers President Bob King said the union supports building a second bridge between Detroit and Windsor, but will remain neutral on a ballot proposal that seeks to block a government-funded crossing because of "strong concerns."

"We have long supported another bridge. We think there definitely should be another bridge," said King in a Detroit News interview. But King said he wanted guarantees that union labor would be used to build the bridge — along with an agreement to ensure the new bridge benefits Detroit residents and that U.S. and Canadian union made steel is used to build the bridge — not Chinese made steel.

King also wants to make sure there is a "fair balance" of work between Canadians and Americans in building the new bridge.

He said the deal Gov. Rick Snyder worked out with Canadian officials to build the New International Trade Crossing does not do enough "in writing" to help people in southwest Detroit, specifically the Del Ray neighborhood, to make sure they don't just "get the fumes and the problems with all the trucks — they just should get jobs."

King declined to directly comment on reports that the UAW was considering supporting the ballot initiative Proposal 6 — which would require state voters to approve spending money on new international crossings — in exchange for millions of dollars of support from Ambassador Bridge owner Manuel "Matty" Moroun for another ballot initiative, Proposal 2, which would enshrine collective bargaining rights in the state constitution.

Maybe I should reconsider my yes on Prop 2.

Wattrick had a nice column about this yesterday. At least I think it was nice. They weren't any veiled allusions to mid-19th century Burkians, nor were there any Mencken references, nor Havel quotes, but I think I was still able to get the gist of it...

Yeah, saw that too. I wondered what it had to do with the Detroit Tigers.

Meet The Hutterites? I love that show. They need to a second season. Will Claudia go off to college and leave the colony? Will the others get baptized? Also X post to odd crushes.

UAW is not indicative of unions. I'm sure they are not like your union and they certainly ain't like mine.
