The Jefferson Avenue Big Boy near Belle Isle -- the only one in Detroit -- will be demolished to make way for development...
Can't say I'll miss the place, Big Boy is pretty much shit wherever you go, like f'rexample in GP where the waitress dropped the silverware on the floor (had to ask for utensils) and then handed it to us, but I do like their seasoning salt. I put that on my pork tenderloin and it comes out awesome.
...bought the site and is considering interim uses such as a food truck court and a farmers market while seeking a more permanent use.
Oh, you mean they're going to sit on an empty lot until somebody offers them a profit? Got it. Doesn't sound like the best thing for the neighborhood, but the market here is improving as evidenced by units in my building being offered for very ambitious prices and closing in reasonably short times: two sold and one new on the market.
Still waiting for something to happen, besides parking for the Grand Prix, with the old Uniroyal property across the street from the BB.
Other recently announced projects for the street, complete with detailed architectural renderings, have gone nowhere. I think people are just fishing, looking for interested (or gullible) investors to buy them out.
