Anyone on here that hung out in the late 70's at balduck park. Angel park.

In the mid-70's Balduck was an open air drug mart and Angel (now Lakewood or Lakepointe East(?)) had a similar reputation.

Angel Park (I think it's "official" name is Lakewood....or Lakepointe, I don't remember) was no different in the early '80's....

It was called Angel by anybody I knew back in the day, and I don't know if they changed the name or what. Lakewood East sounds right. Shit, I oughta know, I lived about five houses up the street from there only five or six years ago. Most everything thing down there has burned up since then. Last time I went by there the bait and party store was looking abandoned. That's about the last thing to go.

Has Andy done a photoblogging tour down there? It's gotta be good for incongruities like boats in the street and shit.

Is she the one who starts singing at around the 19-second mark?

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

If not, is it The Baroness?

Clearly if I had the needs and funding I would surely invest here and become the change Detroit needs.

BTW, I do live in the area (near Osborn High School).

I think this is a great idea. I know there are kids (my age - college age) that want to get their ideas recorded. Detroit has a great underground scene - techno, punk, jazz, rap. If you run it right and spread the word, I think it should work

the nearest studio in the area (Quality) is Harmonie Park and its 375$ for a 5 hour block MINIMUM. I'd offer GREAT quality for less than 50 an hour plus so much more than production Im partners with lots of Marketing directors and publishing agencies. I just basically wanna know if generally its a good idea or if its jus gonna get burned down or shot up like so many others in the area. I truly love what i do. I make music as well but LOVE bringing someone elses music to life...its my passion. But im not rich and would be literally sinkin my whole being into this studio. So im jus doin as much research as i can. I cant care what everybody says about F%$k Detroit n all that. The city CAN be rebuiltand be prosperous again if everyone trys. But realalisticly IT IS a bad area around 7 mile & Gratiot and im jus seein what the locals think....

I know my friend, a life-long resident of the city and then resident of that area, moved to Warren about 5 years ago when there was a senseless killing of the proprietor of a cell phone store at Seven and Gratiot.

Make sure you provide adequate security (alarm, doors, surveillance cameras, rooftop security, etc...). Once word gets out that you have expensive equipment, you will be targeted.

You can evaluate crime in the area with this:

I plan on lockin it down better than Scarface's Mansion, and thanks for the welcome.

Considering that the Freep has often described 7 and Gratiot as Ground-zero for Detroit's murders should not deter business too much. After all, the large, brand-new Walgreens there lasted, maybe, a year. And the mega Kroger's lasted somewhat longer before their life support was turned off.

Other than those minor disadvantages, locating a new business there seems quite the business plan...

Sad thing is I grew up there.....I remember when I was a teenager going with my friend's mom down on the lower east side (Lemay and Mack(?)) and having her remark how bad it looked. Now I can do the same thing with my kids. My old block looks like Beirut.

I did threaten to abandon the prodigal D-Day at 7 and Schoenherr once.......he wasn't happy about that

Greetings and salutations ya'll!
After searching for over a year, I have finally found employment. I have been working for 3 weeks now for a company that does telephone solicitations for various charitable organizations. Kids Wish Network, Fireman's Fund, VFW, Cancer Research Fund, Animal Rescue, etc, etc, etc. It doesn't pay much but it's better than zero an hour! I''m still looking for something more lucrative but for now I am content. Secretly, (don't tell anyone) AT&T is looking for qualified people to work during the upcoming strike. There will be another work stoppage in August as well as tomorrow night...........you didn't hear this from me.

TO THE DETROIT PEOPLE, BUSNESSES, MEDIA AND GOVERNING BODY:

Hello, my name is Michael Stemmler and I’ve got an idea and a plan, I call it the Coalition for a better Detroit (CFABD) and I feel that it could change our city in a wonderful way.
PLEASE READ, I NEED YOUR SUPPORT, THANK YOU! : )
(THIS IS NOT A SCAM OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, IM A PROUD PERSON OF DETROIT THAT WANTS CHANGE)
Our city was once a wonderful place. It was safe, clean and respectable. We have had an amazing history like no other city. From the assembly lines to the Motown sound to the championships to the talent. But things started to decline for our city. Crime levels went up, riots broke out in the streets and more and more people started moving to the safer suburbs. In 1950 Detroit had 1,848,568 citizens and now in 2009 it is estimated that Detroit has only 900,000 left and declining each year.
It’s because Detroit has many problems to deal with. The problem is that no one really has tried to get this city back on track. My plan incorporates the citizens, business and leaders of Detroit, something that has never been done. Uniting this city is a must, we cannot keep going on fighting each other and progress.
We have had mayor after mayor try to “fix” Detroit just to end up doing little to nothing. Sure Kwame Kilpatrick did a lot of good for the city, but that is just our downtown area. The real work needs to take place in the neighborhoods. Where abandoned houses scatter the landscape, prostitutes walk the streets, drug dealers sell their dope and gangs think they run the streets. I say it’s time for us as a city and as a people banned together and stand up against all of the senselessness that’s been haunting Detroit for so long now. There is no need for us to live like this and do nothing.
I have a growing plan for allot of our problems:
Abandoned buildings
Graffiti
Crime levels
Drugs
Litter
Bringing back residents
Home beatification
New housing projects
The Coalition for a better Detroit mission:
To clean up Detroit, bring back residents and to make our city shine again. At one time Detroit was a great city. Safe, clean, and respectable. And it can be again, BUT ONLY WITH YOUR HELP! The businesses, citizens and the leaders of Detroit must come together and unite to make this happen.

I have a plan that could work, but only will through allot of help. VOLUNTEER WORK is a major back bone of this, along with DONATIONS and SPONSORS.

But I am just one person, a 21 year old born and raised in Detroit who is proud.
I need your help in this. I’ve never taken on anything like this before, but with your help WE ALL can make a change and turn Detroit into a beautiful safe place once again.
I’m asking you to visit my site http://cfabdetroit.synthasite.com/ and read more about what I’ve planned out so far. I’d also like any suggestions or questions emailed to me at cfabdetroit@yahoo.com. Or write to me at michaelstemmler1987@yahoo.com.
But most of all I want help in getting this up and running.

This is a simple system we can use to sweep away all the things below.

HOW IT WORKS: Take the Detroit city map, divide it by north, west , south, east and south-west sides, divide those into by zip codes, and divide those into blocks. When a block is done, we mark it off the list, and when a zip code has been done we mark that off. Until we have compleated the entire city. After that monthly inspections will take place to make sure the city stays clean, safe and respectible.

The Detroit Police Department is est. 700 officers short of where they should be.

I propose a volunteer "police" force to patrol Detroit Neighborhoods. These volunteers will go through a short but intensive training, have an extensive background check done and given uniforms, walky-talkies and ID badges. Along with mace, handcuffs, and maybe other form of weapon or defense.

These volunteers will have the right to arrest individuals who are breaking the law, write tickets and hold the individual until the DPD can come and take care of the rest of the process.

Vehicles driven by volunteers will have a light (same as the Angle's Night volunteers) on top of their car.

Great. Another one.

Right. No-one has tried to get folks to work together. Reality coming in 5...4...3...
He did?
Wha? How does a house cause a landscape to scatter?
So THATS where all the DYES morons wound up.
Houses becoming saints? I can see how that woulkd be confusing. Today is St. 37211 Sorrento's Day
Does this mean he wants to distribute problems on a fair share basis?
No, it won't.
