The Beav remembers the precise details better than I can recall them, but it was a walk-off victory delivered by Ivan Rodriguez.
I know the victims were the Indians; I think the Hernandez Formerly Known as Fausto was the waylaid Pitcher.
The point is that when Rodriguez arrived at the proverbial "mob scene at Home," I felt in my gut that our boys were going to be in the playoffs.
Side Note: We have seen Miguel Cabrera do a lot of terrific things with his bat, everything from well-placed Singles up through the middle to 3-Run HR's, but in my view, one of his finest moments in the Olde English D was his absolute insistence on attempting to direct the celebration toward Austin Jackson. Not something we see very often from superstar athletes.
We are sublimely fortunate, to be able to watch a pair of players such as we have in Justin Verlander and Miguel Cabrera. I am enjoying every available minute of the opportunity.

She had some great hooters, though.

I am told that Curtis Granderson did it 5 years ago. I don't remember that.
Also, on the FSD telecast, they said that the last Tiger to record a Triple and an inside-the-park HR was Steve Kemp.
Awesome, indeed. 8 bases (he also collected a BB) in one game, without any of the balls he hit leaving the field. Pretty goddam impressive night's work.

Pics or it didn't happen. We'd even accept a close up pic of her cleavage.

I've seen one. Whine Gonzalez hit one in, I think, 2001 or 2002. Pretty sure it was the day they unveiled the Wille Horton statue

Saw Willie Wilson hit one in Tiger Stadium. I believe I saw Leflore hit one too, but I may just be making that up.

Granderson's was against the Yankees. Matsui overran the ball and Granderson was halfway to third by the time he came up with it.
I also saw Juan Pierre hit one against the Tigers ... pretty sure I was at the game with the Beav.

Sanchez was bad, but he wasn't the really ugly part of tonight's fiasco. The true ugly was the way the Tiger batters looked hung over, and lost, against Dame Helen Mirren, ummh, whooops, strike that, I mean Samuel Deduno. And Tyler Robertson. Fuck. Those two, combined, have just under 60 IP in MLB. Oh, and I don't mean to forget Jeff Gray and his 135 mediocre IP. He's infected with the dreaded, and dreadful, virus known to some of us as Cubness, and we couldn't even do anything with him.
So, here we are. Boesch continues to own a starting RF job that he has never earned, while the sizzling Quintin Berry rides a bench that he does not deserve. Delmon Young continues to occupy a spot, in the middle of the order, like a hideous wedge of snot jammed up in the sinuses and threatening to force out the eyeball.
And yet, Jim Leyland remains opposed to the expanded September rosters, because they neutralize a skipper's ability to manipulate the match-ups.
I couldn't make this shit up.
I know what he's talking about, but just as a rhetorical question, what the fuck is he talking about? The "match-up" wherein a left-handed hitter who hasn't hit lefty pitchers well sits, while a right-handed hitter who hasn't hit anything well plays? Or the one where the left-handed reliever who isn't even getting left-handed hitters out stays in there for a full Inning while the other team sends two or three more guys merrily around the base-paths?
Which is it, Jimmy? Which of these "match-up" scenarios are you so adept at manipulating?
Meanwhile, we see the most telling sign of "the wheels coming off:" suddenly, routine throws are going awry, balls are bouncing off of gloves, bases are being stolen without challenge.
Ah, but that's OK, because-- by the account of no less of an authority than Rod Allen-- Leyland is a fucking genius for calling a pitch-out that snared a runner at 2nd.
Well, I suppose. I guess that 10th Run would have been truly embarrassing.
Goddamit.
