Do with it what you will, but Mel Kiper's latest mock draft has the Lions taking A&M receiver Mike Evans with the 10th pick.

With so many good linebackers and defensive backs likely to be there (Alabama LB C.J. Moseley looks like a star and MSU's Darqueze Denard would help the secondary), that makes no sense. There's always plenty of serviceable receivers out there.

And I think they paid way more than they should have for Golden Tate.

Orlovsky agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Lions today, returning to the team that drafted him in the fifth round out of UConn in 2005.

He’s expected to back up Matthew Stafford next year, with Kellen Moore and possibly a late-round pick also in the mix.

Hey, Mulligan!
The Bills apparently have leaked that they'll be this season's Thanksgiving opponent. Scroll down to No. 8.

I was at the last one here in 1994. Will try to be at this one too. May the Schwartz be with us!
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Couldn't find the flea flicker play on YouTube! Dave Kreig was slinging it all over the place that afternoon.

The regular-season sked has leaked:

Week 1: vs New York Giants (Monday Night Football)

Week 2: at Carolina

Week 3: vs. Green Bay

Week 4: at New York Jets

Week 5: vs. Buffalo

Week 6: at Minnesota

Week 7: vs. New Orleans

Week 8: Atlanta (London)

Week 9: Bye

Week 10: vs. Miami

Week 11: at Arizona

Week 12: at New England

Week 13: vs. Chicago (Thanskgiving)

Week 14: vs. Tampa Bay

Week 15: vs. Minnesota

Week 16: at Chicago

Week 17: at Green Bay

As far as we can tell, the Monday nighter against the Giants is the lone prime time game on the slate ... no Thursday NFL Network appearances this season.
The Thanksgiving date is a bit of a break with tradition. Typically, they have hosted an AFC team in even years to allow CBS to broadcast from Detroit.
Flex scheduling also begins earlier this season. The networks can begin flexing games as early as Week 5.

First time opening the season on MNF since 1971. Pretty cool.

9:30 a.m. in Detroit. If you're so inclined, that adds up to one epic football watching day with back-to-back-to-back-to-back games.

I plan to be in New Orleans that day to see the Saints play the Packers on Sunday night. Woot!

And the game kicks off two minutes after the first pitch of the Tigers game next door. That should make for one helluva mess downtown. Something tells me I'm going to get stuck covering the Tigers that night.

I can understand the Ebron pick, mostly because Fauria can't catch anything thrown from more than five yards away.

That said, Mosley, Dennard and Clinton-Dix were there for the taking.

And it was kind of pathetic to see Barry Sanders shilling for a video game.

Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell does not know when he'll get Ezekiel Ansah on the field for the first time this fall. He doesn't have a timetable for when he'll return, either.

"There is none. It is whenever the Lord says that he's healthy and healed," Caldwell said Sunday. "And the medical staff will take a look at it after the Lord's decree and then we'll see what goes on after that."

Might as well bring in the snake handlers and exorcists too. The medical staff can wait their turn. Personally, I'm rooting for another run at 0-16.

It's not like we didn't see this coming up the freeway, but Suh will make more than $22M if the Lions franchise him next season.

I hope none of you bought your kid a No. 90 jersey. He's good as gone when this season ends.

And, all of a sudden (no, not really), the Lions look really stupid not picking up Fairley's option.

Gotta wonder how much longer Mayhew and Lewand get to run the show.
