I've not heard those, and I don't have any dirt on the guy, but judging by what goes on in the world of automotive's rock stars, well almost anything is possible. I'm not writting a book or anything, but I've picked up on three dominant kinds of malfeasance in "this" world. There are those who want money, with the result being schemes and swindles to get more. Plenty of good stories about the people who partner with vendors and then manage to sell what amounts to being air at very steep margins, to boot. And then are the garden-variety crooks, like the guy who would get the agency to buy props likes boats and ski equipment for photo shoots. Well, those props were delivered to someone other than Purchasing at shoot's end.

And then there are the hounds. A curse in this biz is not to be young and pretty (or handsome - powerful people wanting action have all kinds of tastes), but young, pretty and NOTICED by a I-want-what-I-want-when-I-want-it types can be a trickbag. Jean Craighead George, Children’s Author, Dies at 92

We've lost Sendak and George in the past month.

Beverly Cleary may be next. Yikes.

Robin Gibb, cancer, 62
My hand to God, she's gonna be at Carnegie Hall. But you - I'll let you have her now at the old price, OK? Which is, which is anything you wanna give me. Anything at all.

I've always liked the Bee Gees, even the disco stuff. There, I said it.

Me too. The Barry Gibb Talk Show just won't be the same without Robin.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Robin Gibb was my favorite Bee Gee. The other two were just too furry for me.

The best I can say, being from the generation I am, is that I might, possibly, not think the Bee Gees are terrible, possibly. I may or may not even recently have purchased a couple of LPs to play on my record player, not admitting anything.

Doc, you have authored many fine posts, some of them quite hilarious (at least to me,) and this one is one of your best.

I will admit that my brother and I were taken with them right from New York Mining Disaster 1941 and did, in fact, purchase about the first four of their LP's.
I do not seem to recall any of them getting a real workout on the turntable, other than the Greatest Hits LP-- which, ironically, while jam-packed with great songs, came out way, way before the disco era.

Massachusetts and To Love Somebody still sound good to me.
"Do What Thou Wilt" shall be the Whole of the Solid Block of Text.
As a ravine dweller I can confirm this.

There is no shame in liking the Bee Gees. I feel the same way about ABBA. In lesser hands the music failed, but these masters were capable of making some absolute classics of their genre.
