What I'm saying is that there should be a way to flag that. A database where it's entered if you buy more than X number of rounds from any outlet that is then tagged when you buy another X number of rounds from another seller. Amazon and other retailers can track what variety of coffee I like and target me with ads for that brand; shouldn't the purchase of a veritable arsenal be trackable too?
I'm not totally anti-gun. People should be allowed to own hunting rifles, etc, but who the fuck needs automatics and semi's with magazines that hold a hundred rounds at a time? Is Bambi now wearing body armor and travelling in packs so hunters need drums to make the kill?

I don't hunt, never have and probably never will. With that said, I am on a trap shooting leauge, plus I shoot trap on the weekends with some friends. I also "pin" shoot (killing five bowling pins in the fastest time) a couple nights a week. Plus the trip to Bald Mountain to shoot my rifles a couple times a month. My wife likes to pistol shoot as well. Point being, as sporting shooters we will easily go through anywhere from 700 to 900 rounds of ammo a month. So I'm supposed to have to worry about a knock on the door (or worse) from the feds because my shooting sports cause me to buy more than 20 rounds of ammo a year? Ban this, restrict that, register those...the only people who lose are the law abiding gun owners...the bad guys will still be shooting people, with AR's and AK's and all other nasty sort of "assault" weapon.
And unless your willing to pay the yearly excise tax to the fed, you can't legally purchase or posess an automatic weapon.
We have no reason to worry, Obama will fix all this in his second term...

That's what the gun nuts said about his first term. It's just as absurd the second time around. And I say that as a lover and owner of guns.
