Yes, they are law enforcement officers, and thus are empowered to enforce the law. Would you have even batted an eye if they were DPD? But hey, I guess they were wearing the wrong color of uniform for your taste.

That you do not see things does not mean that they do not happen. Likewise, that you are ignorant of federal law does not mean these agents are violating the law.

Google is your friend.
[edit by Guest: Lowell's original post had him asking if HS was using drone aircraft for border surveillance - the Wikipedia page linked below (copy of link doesn't work) has a picture of just such a drone at work - it's apparently no secret] Originally Posted by Lowell

How do YOU know that is what they were pulled over for? As someone already pointed out, there's a lot of judgement and assumptions taking place here given that you know exactly NOTHING of what went on other than there was a traffic stop.

Him: I can't speak to the situation, but if they feel it is a reasonable distance they can take action.
So there is no set distance?
Him: Section 287 says a reasonable distance.
Everything is so reasonable!
Good, bad or ugly?

They're cops, just like DPD.
You have absolutely no reason to suspect that there was anything illegal or untoward about this traffic stop other than they were Border Patrol and not local, county, or state LEOs.
