I intend to do it one day, but for now I don't have a CPL. I understand that the class requires shooting off a couple of boxes of ammo, and the sad fact is that I only have a couple of boxes of ammo for my little pocket gun. Tell me where .380 can be found without paying extortionists' rates to a gun-show guy/hoarder and I'm in.

CPL classes usually include (IF you go to a range) handgun rental and a box of ammo for said gun. You can always shoot with something else for the class, maybe a 9mm?

The $100 price for me included using revolvers and ammo provided by the instructor. I used my own gun for it but everyone else used the instructor's guns. I'm pretty sure .380 ammo is pretty plentiful, try Dunham's. Gander Mountain will have it for sure but it's a bit more pricey. The Michigan requirement on the number of rounds you need to shoot is ridiculously low, like 15 rounds. Most courses have you shoot significantly more.
By using the El Dorado Atmospheric and Oceanic temperatures thermal map. I caculated the contrary direction where the polar jet stream is going and it didn't look pretty.

That's not a bad deal. I must have been shopping in the wrong places because I got quotes of $100+ and I'd have to supply my own 100 rounds. Add to this that everyone with whom I have spoken has been, well, a fucking pin-dicked pseudo-military asshole and so to date this has been a big turn-off. Funny, because I'm pretty much a hawk and a guns' rights kind of guy, but evidently there's a fine line between being a douche and being just a regular guy who likes guns but doesn't feel the need to talk like I just came out of the army. Fat, bearded, grey-haired guys who seems to live for posturing and waving around tactical wristwatches while commanding imaginary troops are right down there with Hillary as people with whom I'd give anything to avoid.

Consider the obvious counter-hypothesis: I'm the douche and the regular guys just want to me go away, hence the frank-repellant behavior, high prices, etc. Hope this isn't the case.

I got a 2 for one deal at Action Impact in Southfield a couple of years ago, for 100 or so dollars. Sweet deal, rental guns, ammo and training. If you look around at sites like Groupon you may find one similar. I think I got mine from Google offers, now defunct. Grand Blanc Groupon offers this for 75 dollars.

56 dollars with friends. But expires in an hour or so from this post.

Shop around, you can find one for $100 all included. I can even look up the name of the guy who did it, he's an NRA certified instructor without being too much of a douche. The old Burton cop that did the legal part of the class stopped short of telling racist jokes so I'm not sure if that's more good or bad.

Also, a .380 is not really recommended for personal protection. It's a personal decision but if the shit goes down, I don't want to protect myself with a pea shooter.

From the "Story behind DetroitYes" thread:
This might explain his high status at the big kids table.

I miss the olden days of Dyes. I believe it was Gannon or Lowell himself who turned me on while I was on Belle Isle stackin rocks around 2000.

Waiting for Lowells reply on the origins.

Default Django Has Gone
With profound sadness, I need to let y'all know that our friend Django was found dead in his apartment yesterday.

His family and closest friends have all been notified, and I apologize to all y'all in real life who have to get this news here.

No details have been arranged yet, as far as I know.

He was in such a good mood when I talked with him in the morning, too.

Sincerely,
John

Rest in peace, lost boy.

I know every square in of the Packard from the tunnels to the rooftops and I just cant see how it could be redone. I respect Palazuelo for trying to make it work. Last I read he showed up at a news conference and said in broken English that he was broke. He had the decency to show up.

Somewhere in the long-running DJ surreal-com was his own account of standing roadside with a hand-lettered help-me-I'm-homeless sign to raise money for heroin or crank. It was with this in mind that I recently explained to some of my younger kids why I never give anything to beggars.

The other take on this is the one that one of my recovering alcoholic friends has: The dollar isn't going to break me and if it gives that guy a little comfort on a cold night, what does it matter in the long run.
I'm somewhere in between.

I think there were lots of Djangos-types that lived in Detroit over the last several generations. Ours was subjected to more documentation of his life than most, if not all of his predecessors but good or bad I'm in favor of documenting and archiving. It's over now of course but I don't see anything wrong with this thread, it's real life.

I wouldn't even say he was subjected to documentation, i would say he encouraged, invited, and engaged in documentation unlike his predecessors. He loved the spotlight and reveled in it. I agree, I see no problem with this thread. I am sad for his family, their struggle with trying to control his demons is now over.
