The former Detroit City Council president has been spotted out of town, again. This time it was in New York City.

A photo was taken Wednesday of Charles Pugh at a Starbucks on 125th Street in Harlem. The person who took the photo tells Local 4 Pugh was with a young man.

Another Local 4 viewer, John Secor, took a picture of Pugh over the weekend sitting on a bench in Central Park. Secor also approached Pugh, who was wearing a Yankees hat. He talked at length with him.

"I asked why he disappeared. I was aware of the allegations by the young man's mother, and (Pugh) flatly denied them," said Secor. "He said that the whole situation took a very serious toll on him."

Secor said Pugh was pleasant and willing to talk and he made it clear he is not interested in a career in politics or local TV anymore. Pugh is going down another path.

"He very much desires to go ... to live a quiet life," said Secor.

Pugh has been missing from Detroit circles since allegations arose about him having an inappropriate relationship with a teen boy. Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr stripped Pugh of his power and pay after he didn't provide the needed paperwork when he requested medical leave.

This isn't the first time Pugh has been found out of town in the past few months. A Local 4 viewer snapped a photo of him in July at a Seattle coffee shop.

Former City Council President Charles Pugh on Friday resigned from the panel, saying he has “accepted an offer for employment elsewhere.”

Pugh, in the letter delivered Friday to Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr’s office, noted his request in June for a “doctor-recommended” leave of absence.

“The request was denied by your office and soon afterward my salary was stopped,” Pugh wrote, adding he was immediately stepping down because of the new unspecified job.

"I needed some time to recover from this situation that hit me like a tsunami,” Pugh told the Free Press this afternoon from a location he wouldn’t disclose, although he was spotted in recent days attending a session of an association of black journalists in New York. “I’m doing a lot better now. I’m moving on, by the grace of God.”

Many of Pugh’s text messages were of a sexually-charged nature, and several are too graphic to print.
According to Madison Heights police department's review of the messages, "...the suspect offers money and video games to the victim in exchange for a video of the victim. The suspect specifically requested that the victim be naked, and he preferred that the victim be alone."
Pugh's offer came in the evening of the same day that the teen says Pugh took him to the K&G Suit Warehouse to buy him clothes, and placed his hand on the "victim's left inner thigh...aprox. one inch from his genitalia," according to the police report.

Okay so maybe his actions didn't rise to criminal activity it's still icky as hell.

Hard to remember back five years ago, before we knew what we know today about Charles Pugh the creepy mentor, Charles Pugh the unrepentant debtor, Charles Pugh the evader, etc., to the news anchor whom everyone liked and politics seemed like a natural progression.
