Michigan Things I've Never Done

Postby Roquefort Robert » Mon Jan 19, 2015 8:10 pm

I've never been to the auto show, I've never been to a Red Wings game and I've never had a Frankenmuth chicken dinner.
By using the El Dorado Atmospheric and Oceanic temperatures thermal map. I caculated the contrary direction where the polar jet stream is going and it didn't look pretty.

I've never been ice fishing.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

I've done all those things, but only like the Red Wings games.

I've never been to Grand Rapids, seems worth a visit. Maybe in the summer when the Frederick Meijer Gardens are in full bloom.

Never been to Tahquamenon Falls or the Porcupine Mountains. That's a tough sell, if I'm going to drive for 10 hours, I'd rather end up in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park with a luxury chalet and hot tub, which is already planned for this Spring.

Never really saw the Lions. Went to the Silverdome once, but I was young and didn't understand football.

Never driven across the Mackinac Bridge or been to the UP.

We've had a place in the UP since the nineties, but still never been to Mackinac Island.

I have done all of the above, many involuntarily. I have never taken a Rouge Plant tour, either back when, when it was real, or now that it is Disney-ized.

Never went to Boblo back in the day, and I haven't been to Cedar Point, neither by ground transportation nor by ferry.

Never saw the Lions play in the Silverdome, the Wings at Joe Louis or the Tigers at Comerica, although I've seen the cats play at Michigan and Trumbull and the Wings at Olympia, and I have been to a World Series game (cross to Hey Somebody Had a Ticket). Never saw the Pistons play anywhere.

Never rode on the Ambassador Bridge. Never took my own car across the border.

Also never ate chili cheese fries.

Oh, and I've never thrown an octopus at a hockey player (and I've long held the opinion that anybody who does such a thing should be forced to eat it, prepared any way they like it but they're going to sit down and stay at it until everything but the ink sac and beak is gone).

Feather Bowled, yet I have played at the Cadieux more times than I have fingers and toes. Oh, and I've never been sodomized by another man...just wanted to get that in there.
Just another run of the mill suburban white devil, with an "Assault" weapon. Molon Labe.

Never went to Boblo because I moved here after Boblo was closed (or it was about to close ... hard to remember).

I've been to Boblo Island, but I've never had a coney dog and I've never seen Pictured Rocks.
Hmmmm....maybe I should be a large map of metro Detroit for on my wall, so I better know the relationship of my city and the suburbs. - Supersport

More nevers:

* deer hunting

* Thanksgiving parade

* Gold Cup races

* MIS races

* Gibraltar Trade Center (either location)

* skiing up north

* Grand Hotel

Wow, I thought it was odd that I had never done a few thing (never been to Mackinac Island, either), but you people are surprising. How do you never eat a coney or never get to the U.P./cross the bridge? Rory might disagree but I encourage everyone to check out the U.P. at least once. The people are weird but it's a beautiful place.

I've never been to the Pictured Rocks, either.
