Dumars admits now the Pistons didn't do enough research then. That was not the case this time.
"After I drafted Darko, the amount of background we do on every player we draft now is ridiculous," Dumars said. "Looking back, I realize we didn't know half the stuff we needed to know. From that moment on, I said that'll never happen again."

The club will continue the popular “Pistons Concert Series” halftime shows that last year included performances from award-winning musicians Taio Cruz, Wyclef Jean, The Temptations, Flo Rida and Gladys Knight. Friday theme nights at The Palace will include limited edition poster giveaways featuring Pistons players along with entertainment centered around Golden Oldies, Super ‘70’s, I Love The ‘80’s, Totally ‘90’s, Star Wars and the Pistons Beach Party. Fans will enjoy refreshed gathering spaces along the remodeled main concourse and Club West area at The Palace while also having the opportunity to experience a newly constructed open-air lounge that delivers direct views of the playing court from its third-level suite location. Newly installed Twitter boards located on the fascia in each endzone of the arena bowl will give ticket holders the opportunity to interact during games while an updated game program will include game information and a collectable Pistons player poster, special merchandise and food and beverage offerings as well as the opportunity to win team memorabilia. Enhanced food items will include Mac-A-Mania, The Palace’s signature macaroni and cheese dish along with a new line of healthy food options tabbed “The Training Table.”
Every time Andre Drummond dunked Wednesday night, one could sense Pistons fans were becoming more encouraged about the prospects for the future.
The 101-99 victory over Toronto at the Palace to open the exhibition season was only a side note to folks catching their first glimpse of Drummond as a Piston.
And with a following lay-up that provided the winning bucket and a 100-99 lead with 35 seconds left, Drummond showed how he just might be ready to contribute when the games start counting Halloween night.
The play capped a 12-point, seven-rebound, two-block night, but Drummond admitted to nerves.
"I was a little nervous, and my teammates saw that, but before the game they said just play the game and do the things you need to do and help us on the defensive end and things will start coming to you," Drummond said. "When I got in the game I just ran the floor, grabbed rebounds and blocked shots, so things started going my way."

Or to put it another way, as any games out of the playoff huints as are the Lakers...
The last member of the band has exited the stage.
Tayshaun Prince, the unsung starter on the Detroit Pistons’ 2004 NBA title team, is headed to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal that brings point guard Jose Calderon to Detroit.
It was the final domino to fall in the Grizzlies’ efforts to rid themselves of the high salary of forward Rudy Gay, and the Raptors were happy to oblige.
When the deal becomes complete, the Pistons have Calderon and his expiring salary, the Grizzlies get Prince, Pistons forward Austin Daye and Raptors forward Ed Davis, and the Raptors get Gay, who is in the third season of a five-year, $82-million contract.
