Looks like Gully picked Springer up for us, too. Castellanos seems to be catching fire, he might be a good pick until he cools off. Not for us, because we don't have the room, but I'd take a shot at him if we had a spot.

I drafted both of them at the start of the season.

In the interest of keeping our team in the race, Springer is close to getting the heave-ho.

I worry that, with Springer this season, I may have repeated a thing I did with Domonic Brown last season: picked him up at the ass-end of a power surge that he may not equal any time soon. Brown didn't completely flatten out, but he didn't subsequently live up to the image that I inferred from his surge in May of 2013. And Springer has an additional problem, in that it's easier to pitch around him, in the Astros' lineup, than with Brown in the Phillies' lineup (malfunctioning as it currently may be.)

I love the whole fantasy baseball thing. Partnering with Roque in this mutual undertaking has been great fun, for me. While I realize that leagues exist wherein some cash can be won, I think that I find a more satisfying result from being my friend's back-pocket consigliere.

Not sure I agree with Gully communicating to his team through the media, but apparently message received. Springer homered tonight.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Fantasy baseball, because of the unpredictable ups & downs of the actual players, can be surprising & maddening.

Guys who drafted Yadier Molina as their Catcher, probably quite delighted by snatching him up in the draft, must be about sick of his mediocre hitting.
Guys who drafted Lucroy (Roque!!) or Mesoraco as their Catcher, probably feeling as though they had better keep their fingers crossed, are sittin' pretty.

Man, for a guy whose Batting Average would seem to indicate that he's in over his head, George Springer is rather fucking good at a lot of stuff.

I've still had to bench him. Matt Halliday, too. Both are just not consistent.

Understood.

Holliday (you kinda merged him with pitcher Roy,) as much as I (having admired his generally under-recognized greatness) hate to say it, may have reached his peak and is now on the way down the Cold Hill's Side. (Sneaky literary reference, Mr. The Beav!!) He's 34. I'm not saying it's over, but...

Springer, as you say, is not consistent, and therefore is a risk in fantasy bb, but dang... the Astros have got to feel good about his high ceiling in re: power, speed, & defense.

Gully and I won our fantasy baseball league. Again. I think we need to step up to a more competitive, money based league. I mean, we can still dominate our regular league next year too, but maybe add another challenging league.

After 15 or so years in my league, I finished 6th, which is the highest ever.

Note: don't join The Beav's league.

Congrats thebeav. I, on the other hand, have back-to-back #1 overall pick.

Cosidering my fist Five picks were Votto, Beltre, Verlander, Harper, Posey and Sanchez was my #2 starter, Dillon Gee my #3, and my two closers were Soriano and Romo (both lost their jobs in July), it is not so hard to see how I ended up 13 out of 13.

Coming out of the draft, I had the highest rated team in the league. And really until July I was in the top 3. But it all went to hell thereafter.

I did make a couple nice trades to set me up for Next year (3 man keeper league) so I should start the draft with Goldie, Votto and Posey already on my squad. And then have the #1 overall pick. So hopefully next year is different.

I'm pretty sure I'm keeping Scherzer, Price and Bautista again.

I am pretty sure that is a no-brainer.

Kind of hard to not to screw that up. I'm sure something similar to drafting Moustakas in the 3rd or 4th round will even out that advantage.

Tuned in to xm87 (fantasy sports station) tonight for the first time in months. And happily the hosts -- my favorite team of Ray Flowers and Kyle Elfrink -- were back to talking fantasy baseball instead of football. Now I'm stoked for the season to start. Will get back to making razzball.com a daily read too. Love this time of year.

I was winning going into tonight. Just needed a performance that wasn't among the worst in MLB history from Bucholz. I guess I asked for too much.

Almost two weeks into the season and I'm in 1st place. I don't think that's ever happened.
