The Tigers have kept his virtual value real high, and whenever talk of a trade comes up, people act like he could be traded as part of a deal for some high caliber major league player. Haven't seen it in his appearances last year, or in Spring Training. I watched Crosby pitch today, and he was a train wreck. My guess is it ends up being Oliver. Don't really know much about the other 2 supposed candidates.
I disagree about Turner. From what I've seen, he looks like a young Verlander. Not that he's going to be the next JV but I can see the potential. Apparently he's got a bit of a sore arm at the moment but keep this in mind...he's only 20 years old. Just a couple years ago he was pitching to high schoolers so he's got some work ahead of him but the talent is there.
Agreed about Crosby, though. He looked like dog shit.

The division is so bad and the Tigers hit well enough that they pop champagne Aug. 27. Cabrera hits what you'd expect him to hit and nobody minds the 21 errors at third. Fielder doesn't hit as high as he normally does, but, no matter, he still drives in 120 runs. Delmon Young does not hit as well as expected, but Boesch, in a walk year, makes up for it. Verlander is Verlander, Fister isn't as sharp as we hope but Porcello makes some nice strides. Bullpen is fine.
Division champs: Yankees, Tigers, Angels. Rangers defeat Rays for Wild Card.
Angels defeat Tigers, Yankees top Rangers, Angels make World Series and beat the Giants (yes, I know SI made the same prediction, but it makes sense).
David Price wins the Cy Young, Evan Longoria is a surprise MVP winner.

Is that time now? I mean they won the division and the won the league. So they didn't win the WS, I still consider it a successful season.

I think it's still a little early on this one but the early returns are favoring DD.

Way off on the champagne date.
13 errors, we'll call it a push because he did hit what we expect him to hit.
Fielder hit better than normal, but only batted in 108.
Boesch didn't make up for shit and Porcello didn't make any strides (but I still would take him as a #4-5 starter).
Bullpen was mostly fine for most of the year, terrible for parts

If he cannot, then you get rid of him. Centerfield is not a position where a team can hide a no bat, all glove guy. I think he will add another 10-15 sbs next year, another 5-7 HRs, his strikeouts will drop by 40, and his OBP will climb 30-40 points. Look at what Granderson did between 2006 and 2007. If he can't do that, then there is no reason to have him in the lineup at all, in my humble opinion.
You would have been right if you would have said 10 less SBs, spot on with HRs, he exceeded your expectations on the Ks and OBP. Good prognosticating.
Victor Martinez is out for most, if not all, of the coming season after tearing a knee ligament.
Carlos Pena, anyone? Can't imagine them ponying up the kind of dough Prince Fielder would want ... and can't imagine Prince Fielder wanting to play here, either.

I agree. The Tigers already have too many players who can't run or play defense. Nine years is a loooong time for a guy with Fielder's commitment to fitness. My prediction is that a decade from now this will be viewed as a giant bust.
That's a joke, right? Fielder is durable and in great shape - regardless of his weight. He is a vegitarian for chrissakes...
You have him for 9 years. 27-36. Rather take that than a 31-41 y/o pujols. Deal with Martinez next year. Cabrera is even better protected than he was last year. Crazy.
80 HRs and 250 RBIs for their 4 and 5 (or 3-4) hitters. Un-freakin-believable.
