Detroit's Calvin Johnson became the first player in NFL history with consecutive 1,600-yard receiving seasons and tied an NFL record with his seventh straight 100-yard receiving game.
Johnson caught 10 passes for 121 yards. With two games to play, he needs 182 yards to break Jerry Rice's NFL single-season record of 1,848 set 17 years ago. Johnson's 3,348 yards receiving in the past two seasons are an NFL record for consecutive years, one more than Rice's total in 1994-95.

I'd like to see the Lions win it all because it was so much fun when the Saints did it. And, from a selfish perspective, the players and coaches are a lot easier to deal with when a team is winning.

That said, the common Lions fans I encounter as I walk to Ford Field and the overall dickishness of most of their employees I deal with inspire a deep loathing of that franchise. Ansel, I, too, have been waiting for the implosion and laughed my ass off when it came.

I'll also amend my earlier comment: Somebody high on the coaching staff (I'd bet on Linehan) is getting his walking papers Dec. 31. 4-12 with much of the talent that got them to the playoffs last season is pretty awful.

True dat, but even though everyone in the stadium knows they're trying to get him the ball, he gets the ball. He could have three defenders on him Sunday and another grabbing his dick and he'll still get 125 yards.

Last week, we told you about former Lions offensive tackle and current ESPN NFL analyst Lomas Brown admitting to intentionally blowing a block in the hopes that his team's quarterback, Scott Mitchell, would be knocked out of the game with an injury. Brown's plan worked. Mitchell left the game with a broken hand after being hit during the play that Brown left him unprotected.

Now Scott Mitchell has become aware of Brown's shenanigans, and he is pissed. Here's what he had to say to USA Today Sports:

I was floored by that revelation. I had Lomas in my home. I fed him dinner. I gave him and other offensive linemen gifts. I'm dumbfounded that he would do such a thing. I mean, people get hurt playing this game. People have died playing football, and for him to allow someone to take a shot at a teammate, that's crazy.

That was my first year in Detroit, so Lomas barely knew me. If he had a problem with me, he could have come to me, man to man, and said so. Be a man about it. But to mess with someone's livelihood like that, to mess with their family and their health, that's reprehensible.

Mitchell certainly has a point. Trying to actively injure a teammate is always a dick move, as is bragging about doing it years later. Then again, acting like a dick seems like the best way to stand out and get noticed at ESPN, so maybe Brown is just being a savvy media personality.

Former Lions lineman Lomas Brown has been getting a ton of shit from people since admitting the other day he once deliberately allowed quarterback Scott Mitchell to get injured during a game. Though we never realized it until the Mitchell story got out, Brown is an ESPN analyst. But then we looked it up and quickly discovered why we had never seen him on the Worldwide Leader: He appears on First Take, and we never, ever intend to watch First Take.

We also discovered that Brown is on Twitter. ESPN, of course, has a Twitter policy. Among other things, that policy prohibits ESPN's on-air talent from treating Twitter like a "personal playground," and that it "is not a place to incite arguments, render threats, divulge company information or opine endlessly." Brown, apparently, never got the memo.

As some of his 9,800 followers began lashing out at him because of what he said about Mitchell, Brown began feeding the trolls. His tweets, of which there were many, are still there for all to see. We've grabbed the best of the bunch for you in case he decides to take them down. All were sent on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
