They're definitely improving and seem to be much more level-headed than before, but I'm still concerned to see what the Lions do against better teams like, say, Arizona and New England, which they get on the road shortly after they return from the bye. If they dig a two- or three-touchdown hole against either team, they're sunk.

Caldwell would be coach of the year right now if not for Bruce Arians in Arizona. They've found ways to win without Calvin and/or Reggie Bush in the lineup and are getting much better play out of their cornerbacks. Rashean Mathis, 90 years old and all, has played great this year and Slay seems to be growing into the player they thought he would be.

A playoff bye is not a pipe dream ... but, then again, these still are the Lions.

Ratings for the Falcons-Lions early kickoff from London were healthy, given the time of day and such.
That portends more such kickoff times in the future, though I hope there aren't more than two a season. It was a nice gimmick but not something I'd want to see every weekend.

I watched that Cardinals/Cowboys game last Sunday. Carson Palmer was in command of that offense. I wanted to write him off as a competitor after he quit Cinci and just meandered in Oakland but that dude is ready for a solid playoff run if he keeps it up. That's gonna be a tough game for the Lions to put it mildly.

Ready for more? The Detroit Lions are heading back to London for the 2015 season.
The NFL announced Thursday that the Lions, almost two weeks removed from a thrilling win over the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium, will be back in London next year.
On Nov. 1, 2015, they'll face the Kansas City Chiefs in what will be a road game for the Lions, meaning they'll still have eight regular season games at Ford Field.
The 22-21 come-from-behind win against the Falcon was the closest game in the eight-year history of the NFL playing games in London.
The Lions and Chiefs will be one of three games played at Wembley Stadium. In 2014, the NFL expanded to three games in London.
The Lions haven't played at Arrowhead Stadium since 2003 and likely won't for another eight years because of the NFL's scheduling cycle.

Cool.
The only odd thing is the NFL, again, isn't taking a home game away from the Lions.
Not putting two and two together, but the NFL also let it be known that it will look favorably on the Super Bowl bids of franchises willing to play in London in coming seasons.

This team's luck just keeps getting better.
They go to Arizona next week, where Drew Stanton will be under center.

The game at New England will be a booger, but save the trip to Lambeau in December, every other game on the schedule appears winnable.
12-4 and the top seed in the NFC is not out of the realm of possibility.

You're not. I will be interested to see how they do in NE. That'll be the test as to how good this defense is. Also, NE travels to GB still, as well. Lions take care of business from here on out and assuming a loss to NE, the game @GB is for the division crown and both get into the playoffs
Where the hell am I going? And what the hell am I doing in this handbasket?

That was fun while it lasted.

Remaining schedules:
Detroit: at NE, vs. CHI, vs. TB, vs. MIN, at CHI, at GB
Green Bay: at MIN, vs. NE, vs. ATL, at BUF, at TB, vs. DET

Assuming the Patriots beat both teams, how big does that final weekend matchup in Green Bay become?

Win at home vs. Chi, TB and Minn and that should be enough for the playoffs.
By using the El Dorado Atmospheric and Oceanic temperatures thermal map. I caculated the contrary direction where the polar jet stream is going and it didn't look pretty.

I think the playoffs are a pretty much a done deal, especially given a remaining schedule that should get them at least 11 wins.
The concern is the finale at Green Bay could be the difference between a home playoff game or heading to Philly/Dallas or New Orleans for a wild card game.

Yeah, I know that's what you were getting at but I think I'm resigned to being happy to make the playoffs. Every year I look at the schedule and think, "Man, they could win in Green Bay", and after 23 years I'm just going to write it off as a loss.

Well, the Raiders won last night, ensuring the 2008 Lions will be, at least for another year, the losingest losers who ever lost.

Another sign of just how magnificently awful that team was. It is nearly impossible to lose every game in an NFL season.

I hope this idiot is done after this year. He's always been an embarrassment.

Dominic Raiola went at Patriots defensive lineman Zach Moore's legs as the Lions knelt the ball on the final play of the game. The Lions center was mad, because to him, the Patriots poured on points when they could have ended the game.

If the playoffs began this weekend, the Lions would be sitting home.

New England-Green Bay should be a great game this weekend.

Definitely a home-game feel so far for Bills. Lots of Bills apparel and Jets booed leaving the field after warm-up.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

The was a drunk douchebag walking around with a "Jim Schwartz has genital warts" sign and generally making a spectacle of himself.
