It was an official Detroit beat down.

And it should have been. After all the Lions had the lowly Kansas City Chiefs to use as fodder on Sunday afternoon at Ford Field.

The Lions’ 48-3 victory over the Chiefs was the largest margin of victory in franchise regular-season history and matches their 59-14 victory over the Browns in the 1957 NFL Championship game. The Lions beat the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars, 44-0, in 1995.

The Lions (2-0) have now beaten two bad teams Tampa Bay (1-1) and Kansas City (0-2). The Chiefs lost their opener at home to Buffalo, 44-7. That means KC has lost their first two games by a total of 79 points.

***********

Dating back to last season, the Lions have now won their last six games. But a closer look reveals that just one victory came against a quality opponent. That was their 7-3 victory at Ford Field against the Green Bay Packers who played without Aaron Rodgers in the second half.

Would he rather the Lions lost to bad team? Teams play the schedule they're given. Hopefully, your teams wins more often than it loses. It's not like the Lions could have substituted the Chiefs for the '85 Bears at the half.

Stoney was complaining this morning about how the Lions don't allow the reporters at press conferences to be mic'd, so all you hear is Schwartz's answers and have to guess the question, and then said the reason for the rule is because certain reporters, "like Rob", try to make it all about themselves. Ooh, call out!

Can't write about the Lions because they're actually good this year, can't write about hating on Dombrowski and the Tigers because they had a successful season.

Hmm, what to write about. Oooh, oooh, I know!

The Pistons were supposed to open the NBA season on Wednesday night at The Palace. They were scheduled to play the Indiana Pacers.

On Sunday, they were going to host the New York Knicks.

For sure, Detroit fans felt strange when Wednesday came and went and they realized there was no basketball to watch.

Blah blah blah, the players are right....and the owners are bad and greedy.

And, for sure, I don't think that many Detroit fans felt strange. Maybe the stupid ones...

The only thing that bothers me about the lockout is having to listen to Rome et al., talk about it. Otherwise I really would not even think about it. Which is sad, because I used t be such a huge NBA fan.

Yeah, I'm with you. The NBA is second on my list of favorite sports but I'm cool with moving on. I'll follow when they come back but I'm not really broken up about them being gone. There's so much other stuff out there to keep yourself occupied.

I would rather read 11 articles on where Pujols and Fielder are projected to go, than listen to one conversation about what Jerry Stackhouse thinks about the job that Derek Fisher is doing.

Almost seems like he's gloating about it even though he didn't seem to post any predictions on the Click On Detroit website beforehand. Maybe that's one of the reason's he's a gypsy columnist,...nah.

As usual, the Lions wound up being turkeys on Thanksgiving Day.

And on this day, Ndamukong Suh was the biggest turkey of all. Suh's ejection in the third quarter turned a close game into a rout.

Both events proved to be shocking because, coming into the game, most thought it would be different this year. After all the Lions had won seven of their first 10 games and were in the hunt for a playoff spot for the first time since 1999.

Hence, many gave them a chance even against the undefeated, defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.

Instead, we saw the Lions that we've seen for almost the past decade on this holiday – getting drilled at home in front of a national TV audience.

The Lions’ 27-15 loss to the Packers – don’t let the score fool you, it wasn’t that close -- before a sellout crowd at Ford Field was their eighth straight Thanksgiving Day game defeat. In that span, the Lions have been outscored, 285-114.

Worse than those numbers is the fact that the Lions (7-4) have now lost to four straight playoff caliber teams – San Francisco, Atlanta, Chicago and Green Bay. Three of those fourth losses have come at home, a clear sign that the Lions can’t beat the good teams in the NFL and don’t appear ready for the postseason just yet.

"It's kind of disappointing," Lions' center Dominic Raiola said. "It really does ruin the holiday. I’m not going to enjoy my day. I’m not going to be happy. I won’t want to be around anybody."

"You put so much into this and then go out there and lay an egg like that is disappointing," Raiola added.

Lions' quarterback Matthew Stafford had another bad day at the office. He threw for 276 yards, but had three interceptions. It could have easily been five. Two of Stafford’s passes were flat out dropped by Packers' corner Tramon Williams. One was a pick-six, for sure.

"We just got to get back our timing," said WR Calvin Johnson, who had just 49 yards on four catches and a late, meaningless TD. "All of us got to do a better job with that."

Early on, the Lions moved the ball up and down the field, but were shutout in the first half after making terrible penalties in key situations. "We had penalties derail drives and we had those opportunities to get points on the board," Lions' coach Jim Schwartz said.

The game -- marred by a lot of penalties, rough and chippy play -- took a turn for the worst in the third quarter. That's when Suh was thrown out of the game. After a huge third down play -- in which it appeared the Lions had stopped Green Bay from scoring a touchdown and put them into position for a field goal instead – a replay clearly showed Suh bashing Evan Dietrich-Smith's head on the ground. When Suh got up, he stomped on Dietrich-Smith's right arm.

Suh was immediately ejected from the game. After the game, he apologized to teammates, coaches and "true fans." Then, Suh said he was trying to get his balance when he got up and didn't intentionally stomp anyone.

"Not by any means," said Suh, who could be suspended by the NFL for next week's game in New Orleans. "I understand in this world because of the type of player and type of person I am, all eyes on me. So why would I do something to jeopardize myself and jeopardize my team first and foremost."

"I don't do bad things and I have no intention to hurt somebody. If I want to hurt him, I’m going to hit his quarterback as I did throughout that game," added Suh.

Many looked at the Lions as the one team left on the remaining schedule that could hand the Packers their first loss of the season. Although it was just 7-0 Green Bay at the half, their 11th straight win this season was never in doubt.

"We don’t plan on losing no time soon," said Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji, whose team has now won 17 straight games dating back to last season. "No disrespect. This is a good team we played, the Detroit Lions. We don't like to lose, we haven't lost in a while and we're getting used to this."

The Lions had high hopes this Thanksgiving of derailing the Packers and getting newfound respect in the NFL. Instead, many watched and simply wondered if this game wasn’t just a repeat of a Turkey Day from years gone by. Sure looked like it.

Do you know who Rob Parker is? You probably don't because there's really nothing special about Rob Parker. He currently exists as a member of ESPN's stable of chuckleheads who are periodically rotated into duty on First Take, where their main job is to sit there and let Skip Bayless do his thing.

Well, today Rob Parker decided that he wasn't going to go unnoticed any longer. So he did what any attention-seeking, B-list sports pundit would do: He trolled intelligent baseball fans.

Keith Law's twitter retort was awesome.

To all the math-phobes that follow @RobParkerESPN ... wait, hello? Hello? Anybody there?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Hey, look who's trolling.

And it's pretty easy to pour dirt on the Lions now. Sure took a lot of courage to write this right after they slide to 4-6.

The Lions' season ended on Sunday -- unofficially, of course.

Yes, the Lions could actually win the rest of their games, the stars could align and they could make the postseason.

It's just unlikely, er, impossible after the Lions dropped a heartbreaking 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field on Sunday afternoon.

If the Lions -- who won 10 games last season -- had any chance to making it to the postseason for the second straight year, the comeback trail had to start with a victory over the Packers.

It didn't happen, though.

Instead, the Lions (4-6) are now 0-4 in their division and have to take AFC South-leading Houston Texans (9-1) on Thanksgiving Day. It appears to be another loss awaiting to happen.

Receiver Calvin Johnson was asked if the season's over. "The season's not over, man,'' Johnson barked. "We've got six games left.''

With the way the offense played against Green Bay, the Lions could have 10 games left and it wouldn't matter.

The offense was, well, stinky.

And quarterback Matthew Stafford didn't help at all. He was brutal, perhaps playing his worst game of his career.

"Yeah, I didn't play my best," said Stafford, who threw for 266 yards and had two picks and one touchdown. "We didn't play our best as an offense. Getting too many opportunities, turning the ball over too many times, didn't make enough plays."

Worse, there were so many bad, inaccurate passes. Often some of Stafford's passes wound up on the ground downfield without anyone truly knowing whom it was intended for. He was just plain terrible.

"Yeah, it's frustrating," Stafford said. "Obviously, to have spurts of playing good and then just not being able to be consistent enough with it. That's the biggest thing."

Even worse, is that now there appears to be a beef between coaches.

With 1:13 left in the game, after the Lions went four in out following the Packers' TD that gave them the lead for good at 21-20.

Receivers coach Shawn Jefferson was livid with offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Jefferson was caught on camera screaming at Linehan and clapping his hands in frustration to make his point.

It appears, if you read his lips, as if Jefferson told Linehan, "I told you to throw the ball."

Apparently, Jefferson was disappointed in the play-calling in the third to last possession when the Lions scored a field goal instead of a touchdown.

On first and goal at GB's 10, Linehan ran the ball the first two downs. The Lions had to settle for a field goal after Stafford threw an incomplete pass on third down. It left the door for The Pack to score a touchdown and win. And they did.

The scene of coaches arguing was not a good sign at all.

``I'd rather not get into that,'' head coach Jim Schwartz said about the coaches conflict. ``Everybody was disappointed in not being able to score a touchdown on that last drive.''

Still, many have wondered if Schwartz will be able to hold this squad together as the games because more and more meaningless.

The sad part about the Lions' collapse this season is that many predicted it. Many NFL experts thought the Lions would be just a .500 team and not make the playoffs.

Many fans called those experts haters because they didn't see the Lions taking the next step. The reason many didn't like the Lions' chances this season is that last season they didn't beat a team with an over .500 record, despite 10 wins.

Enter the Packers, who entered the game with a four-game win streak. A victory over The Pack is exactly what the doctor ordered if the Lions were going to make that move fans have been waiting for.

"It's tough to swallow because we were up," said receiver Calvin Johnson. "Yeah we were up and had a chance to win the game, you know, and letting go of a divisional game, so it kind of would have counted for two for us, you know? It sucks in multiple ways but we'll keep on fighting."

Sound good.

In the end, though, it probably won't matter because the season came to a halt with that last-minute loss.

In a normal person’s mind their thought process would be how [Washington Redskin's quarterback Robert Griffin III] performs on his bad leg. Will he be able to run the type of offense that the Redskins usually run or will there be limitations.

But, on ESPN 1st Take they rather spend time questioning his blackness. ...

[ESPN analyst Rob] Parker states that he can’t tell if RG3 is a brother or cornball brother because A. he has a white fiancee and B. he might be Republican.
