Doesn't appear to be how that part of the world works: annual round up of addicts/drunks, placement in "rehabilitation camps", then press release announcing all died from treatment.

The fog must've cleared and allowed for a moment of clarity, and The Worm realized he'd become a pawn for the DPRK propaganda machine.

It was an intervention by his best friend, Kim Jong-un.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what 'it' was. Now, what I'm with isn't 'it,' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary.

Sounds like the kid has anger issues.
By using the El Dorado Atmospheric and Oceanic temperatures thermal map. I caculated the contrary direction where the polar jet stream is going and it didn't look pretty.

Deadspin has the greatest hits from the independent review of the Jonathan Martin-Richie Incognito mess in Miami.

And the NFL thinks a gay player is going to be a distraction?

I think it was on Deadspin where I saw Rice's lawyer downplay this as a minor incident before the video came out. Whew.

Larry Foote has been sitting in on the afternoon show on 97.1. His take on the matter today (given Michael Vick lighting a pile of poodles on fire vs. a player who hits a woman, he'd take the dog killer) made me glad I stopped there while I was flipping the stations.

Covered a couple of MAHA state title games for my friend at Hockey Weekly this afternoon/evening and the second game, the Midget AA contest, ended with the captain of the Mount Clemens team getting a game misconduct with 5.3 seconds left in regulation. The kid was sent off, but stood outside his team's dressing room, cursing like a sailor. This went on for several minutes, then he went into the dressing room, took off his jersey and shoulder pads and came back out, shirtless and showing off his tattoo.
Several adults stood nearby and none said a thing.

As I walked out of the arena, a woman goes storming by me wondering, out loud "who the fuck scored the most goals this season?" or some such gibberish. Several children were nearby.

I'm not saying this only happens in hockey, because it doesn't. I guess I still get a little surprised when people act so coarsely in public.

40-plus years in hockey. Can confirm hockey parents are the worst.

Police report details sexual assault allegation against Detroit Tigers pitcher Evan Reed
Woman tells police she believes Evan Reed sexually assaulted her 2 days before Opening Day

Author: Shawn Ley, Local 4 Reporter

DETROIT - While the investigation continues, a police report may help shed some light on the sexual assault accusation against Detroit Tigers pitcher Evan Reed.

According to the report made to the Detroit Police Sex Crimes unit, the 45-year-old woman making the accusation went to the 5th Avenue Bar in Royal Oak about 10 p.m. Saturday, March 29 to meet up with friends. She tells investigators that a man named Evan approached her at the bar. They danced and had some drinks.

She does not remember leaving 5th Avenue at all, she told police. She woke up hours later early Sunday morning, March 30 in a bed with the man -- both were not clothed -- inside a room at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.

The woman told police she saw evidence on the bed sheets that she had been assaulted. She jumped into the shower and said that's when the man named Evan engaged in forced sexual contact with her.

She said the man then told her to leave. She left the hotel, got into a cab, went home and passed out again, she told police.

When she woke up she went to St. Joseph's Hospital. The police report indicates the woman was transported to a sexual assault exam facility in Royal Oak where a rape kit was completed. She called her ex-husband to tell him what had happened and she said he told her "you've been raped." She went to police on April 2.

The woman told police that she was able to figure out that the man who went by the name Evan is a member of the Tigers. She told police she identified the man as 28-year-old Evan Reed after looking him up on the Tigers website, and that he was the man she was with the night of the alleged sexual assault. It was just two days before Opening Day at Comerica Park.

Reed has not been charged as the investigation continues. He is with the Tigers in Los Angeles for a west coast road trip. Their next game is Friday night in San Diego. He isn't due back in Detroit until late Sunday or early Monday.

Police say they plan to interview him when he returns to Detroit.

Police are investigating this case as third degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year felony.

The police report does not indicate why the woman waited until April 2 to report the alleged assault. The woman told police that on Monday, April 1 she received a text message that, she says, was from Reed's phone.

FYI -- some of this doesn't make sense, but it's still early, and all the facts aren't out there yet, for sure. Not saying it didn't happen, but not saying it did, either

We won't have Donald Sterling to kick around anymore.

Not that he'll really mind ... conservative estimates are the Clippers could command almost $1 billion at auction. He bought the team for a little more than $12 million.

The most amusing part of the aftermath of Silver's announcement today was the small amount of wailing over 'free speech.'

Sterling's speech is as free as anyone else's ... until it offends the other members of the cartel he belongs to.

Or it effects the money flow. When the advertisers started dropping, it was just a matter of time.

But whoa, still amazing to see an owner kicked out. Would this have happened 30 years ago?

I know people are pissing all over David Stern's inability to oust this guy over the years, but in a way, he sure set up his protege Adam Silver with one hell of a coming out party. He nailed that press conference. I was riveted.

Me, too. And even if his anger was contrived (and I don't think it was), it sure came off as genuine.

David Stern is getting a helluva a lashing in some circles for letting Sterling hang around after his record as a racist slumlord came to light, but seeing as how everyone that works in the front office of one of the big 4 professional leagues is a lawyer, I'm sure they could've seen the marathon legal fight it would've taken to get him out then.

Consider the source, but Darren Rovell projected bidding on the Clippers could reach close to $1 billion. He might be right ... the Bucks, in a shitty market with a shitty arena and no marketable stars, fetched more than $100 million more than Forbes pegged their value.
There reportedly were nine interested parties in the Bucks' bidding (including Larry Ellison or Oracle, who's one of the richest men in the world). In the Clippers, the bidding will be for a franchise that plays in southern California as the Lakers reach their full nadir, has two young, prominent superstars in Chris Paul and Blake Griffin and plays in a state-of-the-art arena.
Too rich for me.

Delmon Young was arrested and charged with battery after he choked and threatened to kill a valet attendant on Sunday night in Miami.

According to a police report, Young grabbed the attendant’s neck and began to choke him after the attendant did not allow him into an elevator to a club at the Brickell hotel. The report also stated that Young yelled racial slurs at the attendant.
