I found a website by image search that discusses this photo (no shit) and they say that it's an apartment in Russia somewhere and this would be fairly common furnishings from back in the Soviet Bloc days. This shit gets handed down from family member to family member and is treasured because it's so hard to buy stuff over there when you don't have big bucks.
They gave an actual breakdown of what era what piece of crap came from.

Yep, it's ex-Soviet Union (not necessarily Russia though), and the resident expert tells me that the pieces come from different eras.
Wall and floor rugs come from 1970s, or even from late 60s. They probably were brought (with pride) from the previous apartment.
Couch (seen as dead baby walrus armrest) is probably from 80s. It had a bright faux-velvet(?) pattern, but excessive amount of wear and body oil made it look like that.
Wallpaper and light switch date to late 1980s/early 90s or so. Strangely that (90's at most) wallpaper does not look too worn (probably bought extra to fix up separate rooms and still have them match).
Bed covers are likewise from the time of perestroika (90s), and blue one on the left tells us that grandma is somewhere nearby. Young(er) people invariably hate this style.
Man's pants date a bit later, probably 00's. It'd be crazy to wear light-colored pants at any time except summer anyway (dirt/mud in the streets). But silvery-grey pants had their particular time and place.
Overall, a sign that this family did/does not have much money, or they would have replaced at least some of that. But not grandma's rugs, you understand.

My grandparents had these at their cottage in New Baltimore, back when that burgh was a touristy summer resort place for the Hamtramck set. We'd call it a futon today; it folded from a couch into a bed.
