I noticed some some of the more senile droolers over at DY were trying to score some cool points with the kiddies by dredging up memories of the old Orbit/Fun days.

Anyone that ever actually read or wrote for those publications knows that HFD is the true home for any such discussion.

The scant availability of materials on the interwebs necessitates, perhaps, a trip to the attic on my way to the scanner. Even still, this little morsel is still pretty entertaining (see, e.g. 101 Reasons Coleman A. Young is not married):

At first glance Detroit looks like other major city [sic]. But soon you start to notice there aren't many businesses (where do the people shop for groceries? For that matter, where are all the people?) But all that is changing: Detroit is a city in transition. That means every road closed in the construction zone formally known as South of Eight Mile. Combine that with Detroit's world famous offensive drivers (They didn't name it John Dodge Freeway for nothing) and you have a city traffic jam going nowhere -- slow. It will all be over soon. And once the casinos are built, there will be no poverty, no crime, no drug problems and everybody will be a winner.

I heard that same sentiment the other day about the transit center...or maybe it was the Book Cadillac...or Quicken....you get the picture...

It's been fun reading this stuff. Hopefully I can get the rest of the final issue up this evening.

Casey also sent some back issues so we'll try and get those up as soon as possible (it'll take a little longer since they're a larger size).
